Grace Slattery had to make a difficult choice after becoming pregnant four times. She was advised to stop two out of four to give the others a chance after the doctors warned her she was at risk of suffering a fourth miscarriage. But when she was 17 weeks pregnant, she made the decision to disregard her doctor’s advice. Now that her four healthy children are set to start school, the 35-year-old mom tells about how happy she is.
Grace and her husband James, both 37, had been battling infertility for three years when they were shocked to learn they had been naturally conceiving for four quarters. Amelia, Lily-Grace, Mollie, and Lucas were all delivered weighing between 2 lbs and 4 lbs, thanks to Grace’s ability to carry four children until 32 weeks pregnant. Amelia was born with the incorrect organs, but she is now just as healthy as the other three. “I couldn’t be more proud of the quadruplets, and it’s amazing to see them in school uniforms,” said Grace, a native of County Limerick, Ireland.
I couldn’t believe it when I got pregnant naturally with 4 kids after struggling for 3 years and experiencing 4 miscarriages. When tests revealed there was nothing wrong and we couldn’t afford IVF, I was baffled as to why we couldn’t have kids. When the quadruplets were born in May 2014, I was overjoyed. Despite the fact that it was advised to have two of them removed before birth since they were considered high-risk, we opted to leave it up to fate. We still find it hard to believe we are raising four kids at once, but they are unquestionably tiny miracles.
The kids all enjoy going to school, and it’s lot simpler to think of four outfits each day now that they’re all wearing the same thing. At school, they would be in the same class, and when they were together, they were inseparable. It’s adorable to see them sharing a lunchbox, pair of shoes, and backpack. To ensure that Amelia, Lily-Grace, Mollie, and Lucas had enough clothes to wear each week, Grace made the decision to purchase ten school uniforms.
She added: “Their uniforms are so comfortable and can’t be taken off once they’re put on, they also like to wear sunglasses, which is lovely. Life is hectic with quads but we wouldn’t trade it for the world even though it made us realize that our family is now complete. I’ll miss them when they go back to school but it’s nice to be quiet after the summer. The children are all very naughty with their own personalities. Lucas loves to play with his toys but girls like to chat with people and get along.”
Grace claims that having quadruplets attracted a lot of attention from passersby. People would frequently stop me on the street because they believed Lucas to be the brother of the triplet girls. When people learn that I have four limbs, they are frequently startled, especially considering that I was naturally conceived. Even though I can hardly keep an eye on all four, the school run will be enjoyable because quadruplets love making new friends.
