A new mum has told of the unusual reaction she faced after sharing a video of her holding her twin girls online.
Alexis LaRue, 22, went viral after posing with her seven-month-old twins, with viewers left stunned at their size.
Speaking about her pregnancy in one TikTok video, Alexis revealed that she has ‘always been really tiny’ and weighed around 105 lbs. before she conceived the twins.
However, during her pregnancy, Alexis says she ‘gained 80 lbs.’ and ‘got really big’, with the mother-of-two admitting: ‘I don’t know how I did it but our bodies are amazing.’
Camila and Elena, who were born identical twins to Alexis LaRue in March 2021, had already tripled in size despite having only weighed 6 lbs., 7 oz. each at birth.
So when Alexis — who is only 5’3″ and weighs 116.4 lbs. — carries both of her babies at the same time, it makes for quite a comedic picture.
Her precious twins are growing so fast that they have already tripled their birth weight and are wearing clothing sizes between 12 months to 18 months.
Alexis said she and her fiancé Leo Mejia, 23, were overjoyed when they found out about her pregnancy.
“My one goal in life was to be a mum so I was incredibly excited it was coming true,” she added.
“Not having any twins in our families, I was completely shocked, but I was also so excited.”
The mum says she had to post a video of her weighing her babies to prove that she’s not editing the appearance of them in return for likes.
“I actually didn’t think my babies were that big until I started reading all of the comments,” said Alexis.
Astonished viewers have made the following comments: “”Those are eight-year-olds” and “they would be higher than you if they stood on top of each other.” Alexis has also been accused of editing her films or using a filter to make the females appear larger, although she denies this.
She stated, ” “I can tell that the perspective of some of the films exaggerates their size significantly.
“I actually posted a video not too long ago weighing and measuring the babies so people could get an idea of how big they actually are.
“I do also get a lot of accusations of overfeeding them, however, it is very difficult to overfeed a baby.
Alexis said: “They just really seem to enjoy trying new foods. Whenever I am eating something, they always stare at me as if they’re waiting for me to give them some.”
“They’re both in the upper percentiles for weight and height,” Alexis clarified. “Because kids grow so quickly, I find myself needing to buy them new outfits on a frequent basis.”
‘Their pediatrician has not had any concerns about their sizes, they are simply very fast growers,’ she added.
They’re getting just the right amount of milk. They’re happy and healthy and that’s all that matters. Some people just have big babies!’ she said.
Camila and Elena are achieving all of their goals while also being the most famous twins on the video-sharing app.
Alexis said: “If there is one thing I want everyone to keep in mind, it’s that every baby is unique. They all develop at a different rate; mine just so happens to be accelerating.
“They are very healthy, happy, and full of personality. Always remember to be kind.”
