The couple, both 29 years old, from Monifieth, Angus, have faced “the darkest and most difficult times” after their son William died of cardiac arrest during labor. There is nothing more painful than when there is only a short time left to meet the baby, whom I have been looking forward to cherishing throughout the nine months of pregnancy. The shock sent the couple into despair.
Lois, who grew up in Dundee, endured the traumatic ordeal alone as strict lockdown measures kept Craig out of the hospital. The pain of losing a child and the order to block the epidemic, the husband cannot share the unhappiness with his wife. Just when she needed him more than ever, and he couldn’t, that time was darker.
To ease the sadness somewhere, less than a year after the death of his son. Lois had the good news again, this time not just one baby, but three boys at once. Because the first pregnancy did not go well, this time Lois had an earlier ultrasound. To check in advance if everything is ok, nothing unusual happens.
The couple is expecting only one baby, but miracles happen. They have three more babies. Everyone is also very worried, the more you are pregnant, the higher the risks will be. But what happened to his son William is still an obsession. But no matter how optimistic, three weeks later, for peace of mind, we went for another ultrasound and this time definitely showed we had triplets.
Luckily for them, the pregnancy went well. And then the happiest day of couples in general and they in particular came, on March 9, Archie, Oliver and Myles were born. Doctors told to the frightened couple that the triplets’ potential to share a placenta made pregnancy a high-risk situation. However, a scan revealed that each triplet had its own placenta, which was the best-case situation. The non-identical triplets were delivered at 32 weeks after a stressful pregnancy and numerous scans and ultrasounds. A birth in the doctor’s words is described as a one in 42,000 chance.
The boys were all healthy, with Archie Blair Mudie arriving first, weighing 3 lb 11 oz, Oliver Matthew Mudie arriving less than a minute later, weighing 3 lb 5 oz and Myles Gavin Mudie being born last, weighing 3 lb 6 oz. .
After the birth, the boys and their mother stayed in the neonatal unit at Ninewells for three weeks. For a while, the children’s health condition stabilized and developed well, so they were allowed to be discharged home with their family. The couple said the boys are fully developed, all three are keeping us very busy.
Now, our hearts are always filled with joy and love for our small family. We are always grateful for the presence of our children in this life. Although busy, it is the joy that many people wish for, we always appreciate it.
