The adoption of a boy and a girl, both of whom were colored, made the parents incredibly happy. We were aware that a white couple without white children was eliciting a wide range of responses, particularly in the south, said Aaron. There will always be older white women in the grocery store who are staring at us with utter disgust or mothers of African Americans who are shaking their heads.
They wouldn’t alter a thing, though, because they love their family. The Christian couple wanted to welcome more children into their loving household while serving as missionaries in Honduras. They learned about the prospect of adopting soon after that. As a result, the newborns have a better chance of surviving since they are implanted with s that have been frozen for many years in the s of adoptive mothers. The frozen waited 15 years in the instance of Aaron and Rachel.
Rachel and Aaron decided to break the sᴛɪɢᴍᴀ, so they chose colored ᴇᴍʙʀʏᴏs, making them look more like siblings than their white parents. Although they knew they would get a lot of ᴄʀɪᴛɪᴄɪsᴍ for this controversial and culturally unacceptable decision, they knew they were doing the right thing.
After Rachel had two frozen African-American eggs inserted, the couple soon discovered they were expecting triplets after one of the inserted eggs split. Fortunately, there are three beating hearts there.
The three girls in the group were born in April. Aaron claims that while neither Rachel nor she had anticipated having a family when they first started dating 12 years ago, they are incredibly thankful that God has entrusted them with raising these children.
It gives us comfort to know that almost all of our friends and relatives have shown their unwavering support for our family and the unique way we have raised it. We achieve the lifestyle we desire. Given the history of our nation, we are thankful that this dream came true, even though it may not sound like the dream of an ordinary family, said Aaron.
Despite the negative comments, Aaron and Rachel are glad they made that decision, and so Rachel was able to experience the pregnancy she’s always wanted. At the same time, the Halbert family of seven is a wonderful example of what faith and love mean.
