Raising children is not just about taking care of your child’s life and health. It is also necessary to teach children how to behave when there is danger from strangers. With the development of today’s society, the abuse of children is increasing, you need to guide your children to know what is good abuse and what is bad. Most of the time when children are four years old, what we communicate and explain to them already knows. But in order for children to understand and differentiate, there needs to be a clear message to them. But you must try to warn your children about this danger so that they can notify you before anything gets out of control. So here’s how to make sure the talk is a success.
1.Choose a reasonably quiet place to chat
If you want your child to grasp and listen to what you convey, the first step in the story must be quiet and private. This way your child will not be distracted and will be motivated to listen to what you have to say. After you leave your child in a quiet place, make sure they are comfortable by holding hands or sitting next to each other.
Then you can slowly start explaining that they shouldn’t touch anyone else’s private parts. Tell them that it is wrong for others to touch their private parts around them or to ask to touch their private areas. Let them know that it’s not okay to ask your child to undress in front of them or show them pictures of people without clothes.
2.Ask Your Child To Compare Safe And Unsafe Touch
One way to ensure that your child has understood the concept of safe and unsafe touch is to ask them to explain it to you after you tell them about it. This way if they have any doubts or questions, or if they hesitate while explaining the concepts to you, you can go over them again until they get it. Another way for your child to recognize or get a sense of the difference between safe and unsafe touch is to role play. Give them different scenarios and ask them what they would do in that instance or if the person’s actions were right or wrong. For example, how is a hug from someone they trust different from another person squeezing their leg or hugging them?
You want them to recognize that an unsafe touch has happened when your child feels nervous or scared when someone is going to touch them or if a touch is making them uncomfortable. If someone is threatening to hurt them if they talk about the situation or asks them not to tell anyone. Or if a person touches a place in their body where they don’t want to be touched. All these are unsafe touches.
3.Photos of children in bikinis can be used to analyze private parts that should not be touched
This topic is quite sensitive, so you need to discuss it delicately for the child to understand. Completely avoiding these topics is something that offenders take advantage of. But how do you make it easy for your ignorant kids to join the conversation? Well, kids are smarter than what we appreciate. Have them wear a bikini to explain that the parts it covers are their private areas. And then put them in a swimsuit to indicate areas where they should not be touched. If they are touched in any of these places, it is considered an unsafe touch, with some exceptions as we saw in the previous point.
