Twin Sisters Deliver Babies 35 Minutes Apart

Twins are often a form of fascination for many. Maybe it’s the beauty of witnessing a relationship between two individuals form in the womb and how that special connection endures throughout their lives.

A recent story of twin sisters, Caroline Giguere and Candice Hipp, giving birth just minutes apart on May 5, is a fine example of this incredible bond. The sisters grew up together and now live across the street from each other.

They had been expecting together for the last nine months. Additionally, they both gave birth on the same day, 35 minutes apart, in nearby hospital rooms in Greenville. Even during labor in separate rooms, the twins found a way to be there for each other through FaceTime.

“We talked multiple times,” Caroline said. “We got to the point of ‘how far along are you? Well, how far along are you?’”

Caroline’s husband said even the nurses got in on the friendly competition. Caroline Giguere is the older twin, and her son Edson “Gray” Giguere is older than his cousin.

Gray was seven pounds, 11 ounces, and was born on May 5 at 4:43 p.m. at Prisma Health Patewood campus. His cousin, Louise Springs Hipp, was seven pounds, nine ounces and was born at 5:18 p.m. Wednesday at the same hospital.

The same doctor, Dr. Mary Beck of Prisma Health Piedmont OB/GYN delivered both babies. Moms, babies and dads are all doing fine.
