Mum Gives Birth To A Set Of Miracle Triplets That Are One In Every 200 Million

A 34-year-old Cheshire mother has had triplets – in a one-in-200-million medical marvel. Gina Dewdney was left π‘ β„Žπ‘œπ‘π‘˜π‘’π‘‘ when she found out during a 13-week scan that she was expecting three babies. However, consultants were stunned when it appeared that the dental therapist’s three babies were all sharing one 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑒 π‘π‘™π‘Žπ‘π‘’π‘›π‘‘π‘Ž.

On April 26, Jimmy, Jensen, and Jaxson were all born π‘π‘Ÿπ‘’π‘šπ‘Žπ‘‘π‘’π‘Ÿπ‘’π‘™π‘¦ at the same time.

Speaking to the π‘Šπ‘Žπ‘ β„Žπ‘–π‘›π‘”π‘‘π‘œπ‘› π‘π‘’π‘€π‘ π‘‘π‘Žπ‘¦, the 34-year-old, from Frodsham, said: β€œI had it in my head that it would take me a long time to get pregnant because it usually does take people a couple of years trying.

β€œWe thought let’s see what happens and within a month I fell pregnant.

β€œI had this feeling that there was more than one baby and I had a feeling we were having twins.

β€œI said it to my husband but didn’t mention it to anyone else and I didn’t really tell anyone I was pregnant because we weren’t seeing anyone in lockdown and I thought I would wait until the first scan and be traditional in that respect.

β€œOur first scan wasn’t until 13 weeks and we went to the Liverpool Women’s and straight away the woman put the ultrasound on said it was twins.

β€œAnd because I already told Craig and I had it in my head, it was a bit of π‘ β„Žπ‘œπ‘π‘˜ because one thing having a feeling about it and then being told it was real.

However, around 15 to 20 minutes into the scan, she began scanning my stomach, and the room fell silent, and all you could see on the screen were three heads.

However, the sex of the twins appeared to be mixed up at 16 weeks, and the couple was told they were expecting two girls and a boy.

Gina said she bought clothes for the two girls and the boy, named them and β€œenvisioned” what life would be like with them.

However, at the 24-week scan, and after already picking out girls names and buying girls clothes, the consultant revealed that it was in fact three boys and one pπ‘π‘™π‘Žπ‘π‘’π‘›π‘‘π‘Ž.

The mum-of-three said the pregnancy was up and down as there are many β€œhigh risks” for triplets sharing the same π‘π‘™π‘Žπ‘π‘’π‘›π‘‘π‘Ž, as they are all fighting for the same nutrients and food.

“They don’t allow you have a natural birth when you have triplets,” she said. As a result, it’s always a scheduled C-section. So they intended to deliver me by 𝐢-π‘ π‘’π‘π‘‘π‘–π‘œπ‘› at 33 weeks, but I went intoΒ  π‘™π‘Žπ‘π‘œπ‘ŸΒ  spontaneously at 31 weeks and three days.

The triplets were kept in an π‘–π‘›π‘π‘’π‘π‘Žπ‘‘π‘œπ‘Ÿ after their preterm delivery, and Gina was allowed times when she could handle them and do things like changeΒ  π‘›π‘Žπ‘π‘π‘–π‘’π‘ , a procedure that tries to reduce the stress inflicted on π‘π‘Ÿπ‘’π‘šπ‘Žπ‘‘π‘’π‘Ÿπ‘’ newborns.

The now five-month-old babies spent six weeks in the Neonatal intensive care unit at Liverpool Women’s, but have since come home and are returning for regular check-ups.

She said: β€œThey’re starting to smile now and starting to see their characters.

β€œWhat is interesting is they are all identical and 𝐷𝑁𝐴 is the same, but they’ve got such different personalities already and I think that is fascinating because they are all being brought up the same and you think of nature versus nurture.”

“They’re doing really really well. They’re putting the weight on. They’re just into three months clothes, which isΒ  π‘π‘Ÿπ‘Žπ‘§π‘¦ considering they’re five months now. They’re doing well.”
