A California doctor is being praised as a hero after he managed to safely deliver a baby, despite being ππππ in a car crash on his way to the hospital.
Earlier in the night, after Alyssa had gone into labor, she discovered that Bradley’s heartbeat had become πππππππππππ’ slow and the π’ππππππππ ππππ ππππππ π€ππππππ around his neck.
βIt was just a whirlwind,β Alyssa said. βI was in a lot of ππππ, so I was just looking for relief and hoping everything would be OK.β
Dr. George Alkhouri of Golden Valley Medical Centers was at home at the time, helping to monitor baby Bradley, but it didn’t take him long to recognize that Alyssa was in danger. She needed to have a cesarean sectionas soon as possible.
βI found the baby in a lot of stress and there is a need to take the baby and deliver himΒ ππππππππ‘πππ¦,β George said.
The commute from his home in Merced, California, to the hospital, is only 10 minutes, but what should have been a quick drive turned into a potentially ππππ-π‘βππππ‘πππππ scene. George recalled seeing headlights approaching him on the highway. Despite his best efforts to get out of the path, the oncoming car managed to sideswipe him.
βAnd all the glass just shattered and came at my face, on my hand,β George said.
The kind doctor stepped out of his automobile right away to check on the other motorist. He went to call for assistance after confirming that they were fine. Despite the fact that his phone was nearly completely damaged, he was still able to dial 911. He borrowed a functioning phone from the charge nurse after the cops came.
βI told her Iβm going to do my best to be there,β George said. βWhen the police officer heard us talking, he offered to lead me and let me go.β

βI wasnβt thinking about the ππππ in my leg or the πππππΒ on my face, or my hand,β he said later. βJust, all Iβm thinking, how am I going to get there and how Iβm going to deliver this baby?β
The adrenaline from the tense night helped, but when it wore off, his team of nurses stepped in to offer any further assistance they could.
βI was standing on only one leg when I was doing theΒ πππππππ’,β George said. βThe nurses helped me out, take some pieces of glass from my face, and I went back to the ππππππππ scene.β
βJust gratitude, oh my gosh, I gave him a huge hug,β Alyssa said. βJust, I canβt even express.β
George has been slowly improving since the accident. Although the incident left him rattled, it only served to reinforce that he is in the correct line of work.
βIβm so happy to see Alyssa and her baby, healthy and together,β he said. βThis gives me more push to do it again, honestly.β
George will continue to visit Alyssa and baby Bradley for checks, and it’s safe to say they’re in excellent hands.
βI feel like God had his hand over the situation, so Iβm just very grateful that Dr. Alkhouri was able to make it even though he was ππππ’πππ,β Alyssa said. βI donβt know if we would have Bradley here if he wasnβt able to make it.β
