Susie Troxler, a 50-year old woman from Greensboro, North Carolina, recently gave birth to a baby for the first time. Her and her 61-year-old husband Tony are ecstatic to be parents to their miracle child.
Since the couple got married in 2008, they have always dreamed of having their own baby. But years have passed and Susie still didn’t get pregnant.
Susie Troxler is a psychologist in Greensboro and her husband Tony Troxler works at Cone Health. The successful couple had hoped to start a family, but a slew of health issues put their plans on hold.
With multiple health issues from both Susie and Tony, it seemed that having a baby would be impossible. “I had a boatload of uterine fibroids. I was too old, and Tony had some medical issues, so, between the two of us, there was not going to be a baby,” Susie shared.
So they tried IVF, but were unable to produce a viable embryo. Next, they turned to egg donation, with the first embryo transfer in late 2019 — but unfortunately, it did not take.
But luckily last February, they transferred the last surviving embryo – and it worked.
Last September, Susie gave birth to a healthy baby girl that they named Lily. Five pounds, 12 ounces, and every inch, daddy’s little girl!
“We are thrilled. Sleep-deprived, but totally beyond worth it. She is a miracle baby,” Susie said.
A 50-year-old first-time mother, according to Harraway-Smith, is highly rare, and she doesn’t suggest it to every couple because of the risks.
They finally got the help that they needed and after a decade of waiting, the Troxlers welcomed their baby into the world. “Before she was even born, she had me wrapped around her pinky,” laughed Tony. “I love her so much. Every time I look at her, I feel myself just staring at her. It’s amazing!”
The couple could not be more excited now that their little girl is finally here. Susie continued, “We are overjoyed. Sleep tired, but completely worthwhile. She is truly a miraculous child.”
